I hope you’re happy, healthy and vaccinated. I’m ready to get back to living the life I enjoy living. I hope you are, too.
As I write, I sip Suavecito Anejo. Salted rim. On ice. I listen to the Dirty Heads self titled album. I absolutely love this album. Definitely my most listened to album over the last 4 years or so.
While raising two kids and running a business in a pandemic, I haven’t had spare time to indulge as deeply in my NFL Draft hobby. So, my draft preparation is at a serious low.
Nonetheless, I thought I’d take a stab at a Packers centric mock draft. Here goes:
Round 1 - Zaven Collins, ILB, Tulsa. My ideal choice is Christian Barmore, DL, Alabama. The Packers desperately need an addition to the DL. It’s not a deep DL class, so the Packers must address DL early on. Barmore is the best in this years class. But, unfortunately, I don’t think he will be available. So, I choose Collins. Collins has tremendous burst to the football. Reads and recognizes the play. Terrific skills in coverage. Talented blitzed. Sheds blocks and diagnoses plays. Chance to be a high impact starter for a long time. Plays with high end athleticism.
Others I considered: Teven Jenkins, OT, Oklahoma State; Alex Leatherwood, OT, Alabama; Greg Newsome, CB, Northwestern; Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech; Rashod Bateman, WR, Minnesota.
Round 2 - Rondale Moore, WR, Purdue. Moore is a fit for the LaFleur offense. He’s also a return weapon. It’s my belief that the Packers need a gadget WR more than a perimeter WR right now. Moore would be an entertaining addition to this roster.
Others I considered: Dillon Radunz, OT, North Dakota State; Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa; Asante Samuel, CB, FSU; Ifeatu Melifonwu, CB, Syracuse; Quinn Meinerz, C, UW Whitewater; Pete Werner, ILB, Ohio State; Trey Sermon, RB, Ohio State; Landon Dickerson, C, Alabama; Levi Onwuzurike, DL, Washington.
Round 3 - Alim McNeil, DL, NC State. High effort player. Showed decent pass rush skills along with being talented in the run game. Had good production. Big body. Decent quickness.
Others I considered: Osa Odighizuwa, DT, UCLA; Robert Rochell, CB, Central Arkansas; Aaron Robinson, CB, UCF; Wyatt Davis, OT, Ohio State; Jackson Carman, OG, Clemson; Michael Carter, RB, North Carolina.
Round 4 - Ambry Thomas, CB, Michigan. Like his versatility. Has ability to play in the slot and on the outside. Plays with intelligence. Willing tackler. Also brings return skills.
Round 4 - Benjamin St-Juste, CB, Minnesota. St-Juste has length. He uses his body well. He brings a turn and run style of play to the table. He looks like he could be molded into a quality CB.
Others I considered: Cornell Powell, WR, Clemson; Shi Smith, WR, South Carolina; Jaylon Moore, OT, Western Michigan; D’wayne Eskridge, WR, Western Michigan; Emerson Smith, EDGE, Northern Iowa; Derrick Barnes, ILB, Purdue.
Round 5 - Daelin Hayes, EDGE, Notre Dame. I’ve long enjoyed his game. Exceptional length. Great personality. Would fit the locker room. Smiling personality off the field, intense in the field. Could step in and immediately help the defense as a rotational player.
Round 5 - Brenden Jaimes, OT, Nebraska. Has experience at both RT and LT. Great athlete. Moves well. Slides and jabs. Potential to start on Day 1. Competitive mentality. Frame to add muscle. Dig his game.
Others I considered: Demetric Felton, WR, UCLA; Javan Hawkins, RB, Louisville; Frank Darby, WR, Arizona State; Jamie’s Sherwood, S, Auburn; Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR, Iowa; Ta’Quon Graham, DL, Texas; Damar Hamlin, CB, Pitt; Paddy Fisher, ILB, Northwestern; Tony Fields, ILB, WVU; Errol Thompson, ILB, Mississippi State
Round 6 - KJ Britt, ILB, Auburn. Had a great Senior Bowl. Showed his strength. Plays with pizazz. Good physicality. Fearless tackler. Would instantly help special teams units.
Round 6 - Thomas Graham Jr, CB, Oregon. Tough, spunky, playmaking CB. Plays with personality. Confident. Plays tougher than his size presents. Likes to be challenged. Plays with desired CB mentality.
Others I considered: Trill Williams, S/CB, Syracuse; Jermar Jefferson, RB, Oregon State; Ian Book, QB, Notre Dame; Sage Surratt, WR, Wake Forrest; Justin Hilliard, ILB, Ohio State; Keith Taylor, CB, Washington; Tre Norwood, CB, Oklahoma; Lorenzo Neal, DT, Purdue.
Round 7 - Jonathon Cooper, EDGE, Ohio State. I really like his upside. At times, he absolutely dominated. Other times, he disappeared. I loved his effort in the BCS semifinals. He was hungry. He was nonexistent in the championship though, but as a potential R7 prospect, I’ll take a shot.
Others I considered: Dez Fitzpatrick, WR, Louisville; Ben Mason, FB, Michigan; Justin Raine, FB, Northwestern; John Bates, TE, Boise State; Hunter Long, TE, Boston College; Adrian Ealy, OG, Oklahoma.
My focus was on continuing to build up the defense. The Packers must add talent to the DL. The Packers must add depth to the CB position. The Packers must add athleticism at ILB. The Packers must add talent at OT. The Packers must add a gadget WR.
Gutekunst is loaded with 10 picks. He has tight salary cap restrictions ahead of him. He must hit on draft picks this year to load up the roster with players on their first contracts. I have faith.

My Take -> NFC Championship
Greetings, G-Force.
The buzz is real. The hype is legit. The Lambeau Field sensation could be felt through the TV screen. If you were in attendance, thank you! There was undoubtedly a spirited home field advantage in effect. The Packers bottled the fans gifted energy and channeled it into physical dominance on both sides of the line of scrimmage. Cherish these days. Please. Savor them.
As I write, I casually sip a 2015 Avery Czar. This is arguably my favorite beer that’s ever been crafted. I’m bummed that Avery stopped making it. 10.4%. So smooth. A total delight. I listen to Lil’ Wayne’s Green and Yellow. The 2021 version. On repeat. Don’t underestimate the fierce power that this song brings to the Packers locker room.
Here are my quick vibes from the last week:
The Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers embrace before Kickoff gave me assurance that this team was dialed in and ready to stick it to the Rams.
A masterful performance by LaFleur. Loved his use of the RB’s. Enjoyed seeing Dillon and Jones on the field at the same time and then pounding away with Williams in short yardage.
Aaron Rodgers. 23-36. 296 yards. 2 TD’s. 0 interceptions. Just another day at the office for Rodgers. He was in complete control. Other than the two risky throws before halftime, the 2nd down Gold Zone throw to MVS in the 1st Quarter and the miss on the deep ball to MVS, he was exceptional.
Kenny Clark. He might not always dominate, but when he does he’s as forceful as any DT in the game. He dictated the line of scrimmage throughout the game.
Rashan Gary is quickly becoming an elite EDGE player. A difference maker. He’s playing with tremendous burst. His in-game recognition has improved. He overwhelms Tackles.
Jaire Alexander is playing a shutdown style of CB that I’ve never witnessed in a Packers uniform.
Za’Darius Smith is a sensational interior pass rusher on 3rd down. I love the way he uses his eyes to seek out a gap for a free lane. “I'm screamin', "9-2" and that's for life. That's for Reverend Reggie White, rest in paradise. Coach Carter, boy, I'm feelin' like Matt tonight. I feel like number fifty-five, you gettin' sacked tonight.” This Lil’ Wayne tune speaks to me.
Preston Smith wasn’t a dominant pass rusher, but he was disruptive. He had two tipped passes to get them off the Field and he was stellar in run defense in short yardage situations. I was wondering if Johnny Jolly was the last Packer to have two passes defensed at the line of scrimmage. I didn’t have the time to research it, but it felt like it’s been a long time. Smith was active.
Elgton Jenkins frustrated Aaron Donald into oblivion. Jenkins is a superstar.
I am stunned at how good Billy Turner is playing at LT. He’s been a star for this team.
Ricky Wagner has been an unsung hero for this team in recent weeks. A quietly rock solid signing by Gutekunst.
Simply put, Davante Adams is the best route runner in the NFL. He made Jalen Ramsey look mediocre.
Rodgers with the free play to ESB. It’s like cheesecake on a hot plate.
Shout out to Chandon Sullivan for rocking the fro. Dug his hair dropping from the back of his helmet.
Dean Lowry played with the strength of a bull. He was a force collapsing the pocket.
If you’ve been following along in the blog this year, you know my infatuation with LaFleur as a play caller. He’s constantly showing things on tape to set something up for the future. With 7:00 to play and the Packers leading by 7, it appeared as though the Packers would try to run the ball on 2nd and 6. Lazard came in motion. Lazard is a stellar blocking WR and the Packers love to run to his side of the Field. This has seemingly been a run to Lazard’s side of the Field all year long. Not this time. Play action. Perfectly executed. 58 yards and a Wayne Larrivee style dagger! That’s coaching, yo!
MVS looked as good as ever with the ball in his hands after the catch.
Worth mentioning again: Lazard was a disappointment until the unbelievably crafted play design that led to his deep ball TD off play action. Credit to LaFleur and Rodgers for going back to him.
On passing downs, I enjoy seeing Clark and Gary lined up together on one side and the Smith Bros. on the other. Both seem to compliment one another. They read each other well. The Clark and Gary stunts were lethal!
Aaron Jones had a spark to his step and a punch to his stiff arm. I was stoked to see him earn that 3rd Quarter TD. “Give the ball to Aaron Jones, let him run it down their throat. Touchdown! Glasses on, Lambeau Leap in the front row.” His balance amazes me.
The motion on the play design on the Adams TD was play calling brilliance.
Rodgers eluding Donald’s rush and connecting with Tonyan to help grab 3 points before the half was a thing of beauty. Gives me all of the goosebumps.
T-Mon!! The ageless wonder. Thrilled to have him back!!
Major shoutout to Ted Thompson. Rest peacefully. Thank you for the memories, TT! He belongs in Canton and I hope it’s a combination of Brian Gutekunst and John Schneider delivering his induction ceremony speech. This team has his fingerprints all over it.
This week - it’s the Buccaneers at Lambeau. For all of the marbles in the NFC. Throughout Rodgers’ career as a starting QB, they’ve craved the opportunity to host this game. This Sunday, they will.
I don’t love the way the Packers match up with the Bucs. But, things that I don’t think the media is considering:
* just how dramatic of a shift the weather will be for TB. If you’re not used to cold weather, frigid temperatures can dwarf muscular prowess. The Bucs might be the more physical team, but they aren’t accustomed to sub 30 degree temperatures.
* the Lambeau Gods at some point will play a part. Often there is a magnetic force that exists within the Stadium. You can’t see it, but you can certainly feel it. Spirits exist. And, I have zero doubt that the ghost of Ted Thompson will have an impact on the game this weekend.
* the Lil’ Wayne hype. This song brings intensity. It’ll bring a lively aura to both the locker room and the sideline. It intimidates.
Those are real, living factors that will help shift the game into the Packers favor.
My #1 fear heading into this game is not Tom Brady. It’s not any of the terrific receiving options that Brady whips the ball to. It’s not the Buccaneers suffocating defense. My biggest fear is Mike Pettine dropping into zone coverage. Tom Brady will destroy Pettine’s zone defense. He will make it look too easy. Brady will pick it apart. Pettine should stay in man coverage every single play. Don’t try to beat Brady by confusing him. He’s seen it all. Beat him by being more physical than him and his WR’s.
This is a legacy game for Aaron Rodgers. This is a legacy game for the Green Bay Packers franchise. When I reflect on Rodgers’ career, he has mostly played well in legacy games. I view his legacy games as 2010 vs Atlanta, Chicago and Pittsburgh. The 2010 and 2013 Regular Season Finale's against the Bears. 2011 against the Giants. 2014 against Dallas and Seattle. 2019 against Seattle. 2020 against the Rams. And, now this. I don’t consider the NFCCG of 2016 and 2019 as legacy games. The Packers were outmatched in those games. They were far superior teams than the Packers. That does not apply to this game. The Packers roster is built to win this game. Rodgers has to be the best player on the Field. That’s not a statistical comment either. He has to be the best decision maker at the line of scrimmage as both QB’s will have equal reign. Rodgers has to be exceptional on 3rd down. Rodgers has to be perfect in the Gold Zone. When it’s all said and done, to this point, we will remember this game more than any other that he’s played at Lambeau Field.
Rodgers has been walking with a balanced qi. He’s playing in control. He’s lived his life to play this game. His attitude for gratitude approach has positioned him to play his best brand of football this week. The game will not be too big for him.
The Packers OL has played great football throughout the course of the year. Except for when they played Tampa earlier in the year. This is a revenge game for them. I have full conviction that they’ll show up.
The Bucs are ridiculously talented. On a warm sunny day with a soft field, it’s be hard to bet against them. But in freezing temperatures with a wet turf, how will they perform? How frequently have Mike Evans, Ronald Jones, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, and Devin White walked in sub 30 degree temperatures over the last 10 years of their life? That chill is real. I imagine that they’ll be impacted. They’ll be worried about the weather. Advantage: Packers.
Look for Linsley, Patrick and Jenkins to deliver a knuckles wide punch to the guts of Suh early on. They’ll try to get in his head, like they did Donald last week. They’ll be body guards for their soon-to-be 3-time MVP QB.
Billy Turner stands tall, but gets low to win the leverage battle. Turner v JPP is a major matchup. Turner has been a super stud for the Packers. He’s been reliable. A sneaky strong move by Gutekunst. Turner has outplayed his hefty contract and is playing as though he’s getting paid as a bargain. Turner rises to the occasion in the biggest game of his career. Turner protects Rodgers’ backside with solid form.
Davante Adams was frustrated in the regular season match-up. The Bucs will scheme to try to take him away. They’ll trust that their physical prowess can slow the run game and they’ll work to eliminate Adams with double teams. Rodgers and LaFleur will successfully find ways to get the ball to him. Look for Adams down the sideline on a double move for a big play.
The Packers will try to get chunk plays this weekend. I fully expect to see Tonyan, Adams and MVS to all have receptions north of 20 yards. Don’t be surprised if the Packers spread Jones out wide as well and take a shot to him in the passing game down the Field as well.
MVS is from the Tampa area. He grew up a Bucs fan. Last week, I felt Lazard would make the big play. This week, it’s MVS. Vibes up, MVS! Make the play! He’ll have an opportunity early on to take the top off the Field. LaFleur will try to slow down the Bucs front with the run game and an early play-action shot. MVS delivers!
There’s a possibility that Aaron Jones will be playing his last game as a Packer at Lambeau Field this week. After reportedly turning down a contract that would put him in the top-5 most paid RB’s in the league, Jones will be treasuring this moment. Jones will be playing without demons and with his Father’s military mindset. Tough as nails, wiping his bling “G” chain clean after rummaging his way into the end zone. Jones is a quiet assassin. You know he heard Devin White’s words loud and clear after the last match up. Jones has a point to prove. He will be ready.
Again, LaFleur turns to Williams on 3rd and short. Again, Williams powers forward and moves the sticks.
I’ve been begging for Kevin King to make a play for most of the year. In the words of the late Kevin Greene to Clay Matthews during the Super Bowl XLV win over Pittsburgh: “It is time.” King will unquestionably be tested by Brady. King will be targeted. King must be up for the challenge.
Pettine says that he’ll be dialing up his fast ball for Brady. Pettine’s fastball is a 4-man rush. Man coverage in back. I have to believe that he stays out of zone defense for the vast majority of the game. There’s no such thing as confusing Tom Brady. The Packers have to pressure Brady with muscle. You know that Brady won’t be moving off of his spot. Collapse the interior of the pocket. Once again, Preston Smith gets his hands in the air to disrupt the passing zone.
Barnes and Kirksey will be mightily tested over the middle of the field. In both the run and pass game. Earlier in the year, ILB was a weakness for this defense. But, over the last 4-6 weeks, it's been a position of strength. Kirksey and Barnes must be up to the task. Brady will test them with Brate and Gronkowski in the passing game. Arians will run Fournette and Jones up the gut to see if they're fit for the task. Barnes struggled to tackle with the injured thumb last week. He'll have to be better this week.
If the defense can hold Tampa to less than 30, I think the Packers will win the game. I have to imagine that – in the back of his head - LaFleur has been devising a game plan for this game since October. The Packers offense will be in attack mode. There will be motion and deception all over the Field pre-snap. LaFleur will be aiming to confuse the Tampa defense all game.
Win it for Ted! And, Ted, any help that you can give from the Heavens is much appreciated. And, it’ll be recognized. Trust in that, just like we Trusted in Ted for more than a decade. The ghosts of Lambeau give the Packers the necessary jolt needed to push this team kinetically forward.

How frequently have Mike Evans, Ronald Jones, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette, and Devin White walked in sub 30 degree temperatures over the last 10 years of their life? That chill is real. I imagine that they’ll be impacted. They’ll be worried about the weather. Advantage: Packers.
Look for Linsley, Patrick and Jenkins to deliver a knuckles wide punch to the guts of Suh early on. They’ll try to get in his head, like they did Donald last week. They’ll be body guards for their soon-to-be 3-time MVP QB.
Billy Turner stands tall, but gets low to win the leverage battle. Turner v JPP is a major matchup. Turner has been a super stud for the Packers. He’s been reliable. A sneaky strong move by Gutekunst. Turner has outplayed his hefty contract and is playing as though he’s getting paid as a bargain. Turner rises to the occasion in the biggest game of his career. Turner protects Rodgers’ backside with solid form.
Davante Adams was frustrated in the regular season match-up. The Bucs will scheme to try to take him away. They’ll trust that their physical prowess can slow the run game and they’ll work to eliminate Adams with double teams. Rodgers and LaFleur will successfully find ways to get the ball to him. Look for Adams down the sideline on a double move for a big play.
The Packers will try to get chunk plays this weekend. I fully expect to see Tonyan, Adams and MVS to all have receptions north of 20 yards. Don’t be surprised if the Packers spread Jones out wide as well and take a shot to him in the passing game down the Field as well.
MVS is from the Tampa area. He grew up a Bucs fan. Last week, I felt Lazard would make the big play. This week, it’s MVS. Vibes up, MVS! Make the play! He’ll have an opportunity early on to take the top off the Field. LaFleur will try to slow down the Bucs front with the run game and an early play-action shot. MVS delivers!
There’s a possibility that Aaron Jones will be playing his last game as a Packer at Lambeau Field this week. After reportedly turning down a contract that would put him in the top-5 most paid RB’s in the league, Jones will be treasuring this moment. Jones will be playing without demons and with his Father’s military mindset. Tough as nails, wiping his bling “G” chain clean after rummaging his way into the end zone. Jones is a quiet assassin. You know he heard Devin White’s words loud and clear after the last match up. Jones has a point to prove. He will be ready.
Again, LaFleur turns to Williams on 3rd and short. Again, Williams powers forward and moves the sticks.
I’ve been begging for Kevin King to make a play for most of the year. In the words of the late Kevin Greene to Clay Matthews during the Super Bowl XLV win over Pittsburgh: “It is time.” King will unquestionably be tested by Brady. King will be targeted. King must be up for the challenge.
Pettine says that he’ll be dialing up his fast ball for Brady. Pettine’s fastball is a 4-man rush. Man coverage in back. I have to believe that he stays out of zone defense for the vast majority of the game. There’s no such thing as confusing Tom Brady. The Packers have to pressure Brady with muscle. You know that Brady won’t be moving off of his spot. Collapse the interior of the pocket. Once again, Preston Smith gets his hands in the air to disrupt the passing zone.
Barnes and Kirksey will be mightily tested over the middle of the field. In both the run and pass game. Earlier in the year, ILB was a weakness for this defense. But, over the last 4-6 weeks, it's been a position of strength. Kirksey and Barnes must be up to the task. Brady will test them with Brate and Gronkowski in the passing game. Arians will run Fournette and Jones up the gut to see if they're fit for the task. Barnes struggled to tackle with the injured thumb last week. He'll have to be better this week.
If the defense can hold Tampa to less than 30, I think the Packers will win the game. I have to imagine that – in the back of his head - LaFleur has been devising a game plan for this game since October. The Packers offense will be in attack mode. There will be motion and deception all over the Field pre-snap. LaFleur will be aiming to confuse the Tampa defense all game.
Win it for Ted! And, Ted, any help that you can give from the Heavens is much appreciated. And, it’ll be recognized. Trust in that, just like we Trusted in Ted for more than a decade. The ghosts of Lambeau give the Packers the necessary jolt needed to push this team kinetically forward.

My Take -> NFC Divisional Round
Greetings, G-Force.
13-3. The road to the Super Bowl goes through Titletown, U.S.A. This team has style. This team has flavor. This team is layered with a rose pungent scent. This team went into Soldier Field and staked claim to the NFC Regular Season crown. I’m proud to say that I’m a Green Bay Packers fan. If you’re reading this blog right now, you should also be walking with football glee. This team is a joy to watch.
As I write, I sip a 2015 Russian River Consecration. Aged in Cabernet barrels. It’s an absolute delight to wet the lips with this black currant goodness. I listen to the Grateful Dead’s 11.07.69 show. My Love light shines for both this team and this Franchise.
Here are my vibes from the last week:
Matt LaFleur. How is he not the Coach of the Year? After the Draft, nearly the entire media and blogosphere — including myself — dogged the Packers for their inability to add weapons on offense. Yet, LaFleur proved that he was smarter than everyone else. He is a master at getting the ball into his playmakers hands in space. He’s as creative as any offensive mind in the League. He led the #1 scoring offense in the NFL.
Aaron Rodgers. He is your undisputed NFL MVP. A magical year by the soon-to-be 3-time MVP. All year, he’s showed complete control of this offense. He’s been more cerebral than any player on the field. He’s directed this offense at the line of scrimmage like an absolute mastermind.
Mike Pettine. I’ve intentionally been quiet on his work in 2020. I’ve quietly waited for this defense’s bubble to pop. But, as I reflect on the 2020 Regular Season, it’s the growth of his unit that gives me hope that the Packers are poised for a Super playoff run.

Once again, the Packers showed that TRUMP CARD rests with great strength inside the visitors locker room at Soldier Field. Since the Packers collected the Halas Trophy at Soldier Field in January of 2011, the Packers have dominated the Bears at Soldier Field. In 2011, the Packers won the NFC NORTH crown at Soldier. In 2013, the Packers again won the NFC NORTH title at Soldier Field. This time, it was in Week 17 on a 4th and 8 48-yard TD pass from Rodgers to Cobb with 00:38 left on the clock. In 2015 and 2019, the Packers opened the season with victories at Soldier Field. In 2016, Rodgers connected with Nelson for 60 yards on 3rd & 11 with 00:31 seconds to set up a game winning FG. Now, we add 2020 to the list as the Packers clinched the #1 seed in the NFC at Soldier Field in Week 17. Oh, the glory.
Watching Jaire stuff Jimmy Graham at the goal line on the last play of the 2020 Regular Season is symbolic of the current state of the union for both Franchises. The Bears may look big and mighty. But, they play soft in the heart. The Packers may be undersized in places, but the players on this team knows their role. They depend on one another. They’re tactically strong. They fight to the finish.
MVS. I guess we have to take the bad with the good. His 72-yard TD was everything we love. His dropped TD was everything that disgusts us.
Big Bob Tonyan finding the end zone in the Gold Zone has been as exciting as any portion of the Packers offense in 2020. His Week 17 TD put LaFleur’s influence on Rodgers on display. LaFleur has taught Rodgers patience. LaFleur has taught Rodgers to trust his teammates. LaFleur has reminded Rodgers to stand tall in the pocket and to read through his progressions even as he feels pressure. The Tonyan TD showed Rodgers’ growth as a QB in 2020. Together, LaFleur and Rodgers are setting the football world on fire.

Dominique Dafney is a prime example of what the 2020 Packers stand for. Catch a TD on one play. Make a vicious special teams tackle on the next. This team is selfless. This team has great leadership. These players know that they have a defined role. They play to their role with exceptional consistency.
Don’t look now, Christian Kirksey has been making plays on a weekly basis.
Have a strong feeling that Kevin King is going to have to make a game swinging interception in order for the Packers to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. I imagine he will be tested in abundance in the coming weeks.
SNACKS! His presence and technique feels different. Here’s the crazy irony: he asked for his release after he was inactive against the Rams in Week 16. Last week - the Rams ran all over the Seahawks. They ran right through the heart of the Seattle defense. Isn’t that where you’d expect SNACKS to be playing? Would SNACKS have made a difference? I believe that SNACKS will make a big impact on the game this weekend.
Aaron Rodgers. 19-24. 240 yards. 4 TD’s. 0 interceptions. I think that’s called sublime QB play.

I’m ok with Pettine’s keep everything in front of you and make the tackle strategy. As long as this defense doesn’t give up the big play, I have confidence in someone making a great individual play to keep the opposition out of the end zone. Let’s hope he continues to rush 4 and stays in man coverage. I like the way the defense matches up with nearly every team in the league on a man to man basis.

The 2020 Regular Season was as entertaining as any I’ve ever witnessed. Regardless of how the playoffs end, I’ll always be grateful for the thrills that this team has given me. I hold out immense hope that when it’s all said and done, we will be able to compare this team to the 1996 team as the best Packers team that we’ve witnessed in the last 40 years.
Matt LaFleur has entrenched in this team that there is no “I” in team, but there is a “M” and an “E” - so, me better do my part each week. This locker room epitomizes the word team.
This week - it’s the Rams. The best scoring defense against the best scoring offense. Something has to give.
Rams Defensive Coordinator, Brandon Staley, is as under appreciated as it gets across the NFL. I’m happy to see that he’s getting Head Coaching requests. He brings an innovative mind to the defensive side of the ball. He has a lot of pre snap movement, not unlike what we see from both the Rams and Packers offenses. Don’t underestimate him potentially being minimally distracted as he receives Head Coaching interview requests. These guys are professionals, but they’re also human.
There’s no debate, the Rams have the best defensive front in the NFL. The Packers OL must hold up. And, LaFleur must help them out by establishing the run early on. The run sets up the play action pass and slows down the pass rush. I fully anticipate that we will see a heavy dose of Aaron Jones early on.
All year, Matt LaFleur has been one step ahead of the defense. I anticipate that it’ll be the case again on Saturday afternoon. And, if the Packers can grab a 2-score lead in the 2nd Quarter, much like they have most of the year, it’ll be extremely difficult for the Rams to catch up. They aren’t built for that brand of football. Barring a defensive or special teams score, of course.
The Rams will want to eat clock. Expect a lot of Brown and Akers. Enter: SNACKS and Kenny Clark. Defensively, Pettine should start with a 5-man front. Gary, Lowry, Clark, SNACKS, and Za’Darius on the field. They play the run. Man coverage in back. Expecting play action. Look for a 3 and out.
If the Packers can limit the run game on early downs, Pettine can rush for and wait for a Goff mistake. In order to stop the run game, they’ll have to watch the cut back to the left side of the Rams OL. The Rams love to have David Edwards and Andrew Whitworth collapsing the left side of the OL to free up the cutback. Defenses often over pursue and Rams RB’s find chunks of yards because of it. McVay requires a back with excellent vision and instincts. The run is designed to the right, but if the hole isn’t open, McVay expects the cut back to be free. The Packers ILB’s must stay disciplined.
Look for Allen Lazard to make a couple of key receptions for 1st downs. So much has been made about Adams v Ramsey and MVS on the deep ball. Or Tonyan’s unbelievable season. I’m expecting Allen Lazard to have a big game as a forgotten man.
Yes, I’m calling it: Aaron Jones and Allen Lazard will have great games for the Packers this weekend.
Many people fear the Rams. I do not. Kupp, Reynolds and Woods are all very good system WR’s, but I’m not worried about them. I believe that Sullivan, King and Jaire match up really well against them. I’d like to think that Sullivan’s length will swallow up Woods in the slot. The Packers secondary must stay disciplined and not get fooled by play action and motion eye candy. Play man. Mark your man! Know your role, play your role. Be better than the man lined up against you.

I believe in this offense.

My Take -> Week 17
Greetings, G-Force.
12-3. A week after a ho-hum victory over the Panthers, the Packers showed all of their might in route to a 40-14 demolition over the Titans. The Titans walked into Lambeau as though they were a physical team that was poised to flex their muscles in Titletown, U.S.A. Instead, it was the Packers who showed themselves of being strong enough to punch their path all the way to the Super Bowl.
As I write, I slowly sip a 2014 Russian River Temptation. A wild sour beer that is perfectly aged in Chardonnay barrels. 7.5% of refreshing beauty. I listen to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros belting out “Home” into my ears. The love the passion of this tune.
Here are my vibes from the last week:
It has been well documented in my ears that the Titans with LaFleur’s play calling and player management while he was in Tennessee. Well, on Sunday Night, LaFleur put on a coaching clinic as he trashed his old team. His team had 25 pass plays and 37 runs. Prior to the 3 kneel downs, the Packers were averaging just under 7 yards per carry. Rodgers had thrown 4 TD’s. The Packers offense was hitting in all cylinders.
Aaron Rodgers is one game away from wrapping up his 3rd MVP. He torched the Titans all game long. Other than his poor decision to force the ball down the middle, he was near flawless in the dominating Sunday Night performance.
Kudos to Pettine. His defense is coming together. Playing Championship level football.
Savage is looking more and more like Nintendo Nick.
Rashan Gary was a menacing defender. He played angry and controlled the line of scrimmage.
The Smith Bros. were intimidating monsters at the line of scrimmage.
Kenny Clark was his superstar self.
Happy to see Kirksey making a couple of plays.
Barnes can play football.
Jenkins continues to dominate.
Linsley with another elite performance.
This team will greatly miss David Bakhtiari. A stalwart at LT. Speedy recovery to you, Bakhtiari. We will miss you!!
Thankfully, Wagner’s injury is not long term.

This week - it’s the Bears. In Chicago. With a win, the Packers would not only win the NFC, but they’d likely eliminate the hated Bears from the playoffs.
The NFC has never felt so wide open before. A 1st round bye would be beyond crucial. Eliminating the Bears would be the first step towards positioning themselves for a potential Super Bowl run. I'd much rather play a team from LA or Arizona than a team from Chicago at Lambeau in January. The Bears are built for cold weather. The Rams and Cardinals are not. The Packers need this win.
The Bears have been playing great football since they were shellacked at Lambeau. The Bears have seemingly rose from the dead. After vanquishing in Prime Time against the Packers, the Bears offense is alive and well.
Trubisky and Montgomery are both playing great football. The Bears play calling has improved as well. There's more motion. More crossing routes. Frankly, it looks more like a LaFleur style offense. My guess is that Nagy is studying what LaFleur is doing and he's doing his best job at mimicking it.
The Bears have to be thrilled that they won't see Bakhtiari. Their secondary will be decimated. They'll be losing two of their top 3 CB's this weekend. So, they'll be hoping that their pass rush can make Rodgers uncomfortable. They'll have Hicks back this weekend. He's a difference maker. Their best player. The Packers will have to neutralize Mack or the Bears may be able to control the game with their front 7.
The Packers have been saving Aaron Jones. They have a fresh Aaron Jones. It's time to put him to work. Jones should touch the ball 20+ times this week. And, then, they should go play action to MVS over the top. If the Packers can establish the run and get the Bears Safeties creeping towards the box, a big play will open itself up deep down the field.
Defensively, the Packers must slow down Montgomery. If they can stop the run and make the Bears one dimensional, Trubisky will make mistakes. And, if the Packers can capitalize on those mistakes, they'll win by two scores. But, the Packers secondary must hold onto the football when Trubisky gives them an opportunity.
The first time they played, the Packers DL dominated. They have to belly up to the task again this week.
I think the Packers will force two turnovers. I think Jones will run well. I think Rodgers will cement himself as the NFL's MVP. I think the Packers will clinch homefield advantage in the Visitor's Locker Room at Soldier Field.

12-3. A week after a ho-hum victory over the Panthers, the Packers showed all of their might in route to a 40-14 demolition over the Titans. The Titans walked into Lambeau as though they were a physical team that was poised to flex their muscles in Titletown, U.S.A. Instead, it was the Packers who showed themselves of being strong enough to punch their path all the way to the Super Bowl.
As I write, I slowly sip a 2014 Russian River Temptation. A wild sour beer that is perfectly aged in Chardonnay barrels. 7.5% of refreshing beauty. I listen to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros belting out “Home” into my ears. The love the passion of this tune.
Here are my vibes from the last week:
It has been well documented in my ears that the Titans with LaFleur’s play calling and player management while he was in Tennessee. Well, on Sunday Night, LaFleur put on a coaching clinic as he trashed his old team. His team had 25 pass plays and 37 runs. Prior to the 3 kneel downs, the Packers were averaging just under 7 yards per carry. Rodgers had thrown 4 TD’s. The Packers offense was hitting in all cylinders.
Aaron Rodgers is one game away from wrapping up his 3rd MVP. He torched the Titans all game long. Other than his poor decision to force the ball down the middle, he was near flawless in the dominating Sunday Night performance.
Kudos to Pettine. His defense is coming together. Playing Championship level football.
Savage is looking more and more like Nintendo Nick.
Rashan Gary was a menacing defender. He played angry and controlled the line of scrimmage.
The Smith Bros. were intimidating monsters at the line of scrimmage.
Kenny Clark was his superstar self.
Happy to see Kirksey making a couple of plays.
Barnes can play football.
Jenkins continues to dominate.
Linsley with another elite performance.
This team will greatly miss David Bakhtiari. A stalwart at LT. Speedy recovery to you, Bakhtiari. We will miss you!!
Thankfully, Wagner’s injury is not long term.
Billy Turner is going to have to bail out the Packers.

My Take -> Week 16
Greetings, G-Force.
11-3. There’s no such thing as style points in the NFL. Just win, baby. The Packers remain in control of their destiny. Two games to play. Finish strong and earn a week to rest. Let’s go!
As I write, I sip a Central Waters Scotch Ale. From 2016. I’d argue that this is among the most under appreciated beers that has been brewed in WI. That I’ve tasted anyways. It’s gourmet goodness. It’s mellowed over the years. And, really, I enjoy it more now than ever before. Bing Crosby sings me Christmas songs as I lay on the couch by the fireplace. Peace is in my heart.
Here are my quick vibes over the last week:
If this team is going to be Super, it’ll happen because the Matt LaFleur and Aaron Rodgers combination performs as the most supreme combination in the NFL. LaFleur and Rodgers had things rolling early. Then, Adams dropped two passes and Lazard dropped one. Suddenly, the rhythm and mentality of the offense was off. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when they watch the film together. LaFleur seemed to be calling run plays and Rodgers was in effectively changing to pass plays. LaFleur showed far less creativity. In fact, it was often predictable. And, Carolina’s DL was much more physical than the Packers OL. It was a perfect combination for making the Packers offense inept. Still, the Packers came away with Victory. A win is a win.
Adrian Amos was terrific.
Savage continues to grow. He’s looked like a young Nintendo Nick over the last month.
The Panthers are 2-8 in one-score games this year. Kudos to the Packers for grabbing the hard fought win.

Aaron Jones must get paid.
Krys Barnes with the legendary play at the goal line.
Savage and Amos meant business. The two safeties have been great over the last month.
Za’Darius keeps making plays. It’s a joy to watch.

The Lazard drop before the half was a big play. The Packers never regained momentum. Oh well. Onward, we go at 11-3!
With the Saints and Rams loss this weekend, the path to home field became even more clear. Let’s hope for a Rams win over the Seahawks this weekend!
This week - it’s the Titans traveling to Green Bay for the MAIN EVENT on Sunday Night Football. Weather could play a role. And, if it does, that’s definitely a favor for the Titans. If the wind isn’t a factor, the Packers will throw the ball all over the field. The Titans don’t have a pass rush. Rodgers could have an MVP evening while clinching home field throughout on Sunday. But, if the weather is a major issue, the Titans will be getting a big favor. In a win aided game, the best player on the field shifts from Aaron Rodgers to Derrick Henry.
The Titans will try to slow the game ball. They’ll run it often and then turn to play action. They’ll test the Packers star CB’s with Davis and Brown.
Expect Henry to get 25+ carries. They’ll pound aggressively. Martin, Barnes and Kirksey will be challenged.
I’m holding out hope that the weather doesn’t play a major role. And, then, we will see an old fashioned shoot out.
I’ll take the Packers offense over the Titans offense. I’ll also take the Packers defense over the Titans defense.
I can’t wait to see the Packers strip Henry.

My Take -> Week 15
Greetings, G-Force.
10-3. NFC NORTH Champions. Atop the NFC. 3 weeks to go. In control of their destiny to have home field to go to the Super Bowl. As we sit now, the road to the Super Bowl would go through Titletown, U.S.A.
As I write, I sip a North Coast Brewing Old Rasputin. I figure, that if I’m going to reflect on a vintage Aaron Rodgers performance, I might as well sip a classic. This one has aged since 10/16. Just about the time when Rodgers was going to begin his RUN THE TABLE stretch. In a ‘tis the Season moment, John Lennon is presently belting “And, so this is Christmas” in my ear.
Here are my quick vibes from the last week:
There’s love in this locker room. The bond between this team is remarkable. There’s a strong connection. A deeply rooted unification. They seem to genuinely care about one another. Matt LaFleur deserves a lot of credit for building this culture.
Aaron Rodgers willed this team to victory. The offense struggled to find its rhythm. But, Rodgers was dialed in. A grind it out performance. A gritty display. With three weeks to play, Aaron Rodgers is the NFL’s MVP.
Davante Adams continues to play at an extraordinary high level. Each week - he’s the 2nd best player on the field, behind Aaron Rodgers.
I am worried about the Aaron Jones teaming with Drew Rosenhaus move. I hope this one doesn’t turn out ugly. My gut says that he wants to stay in Green Bay.
Mason Crosby! Unbelievable!
Dance Tavon, dance. Dance, I say. Dance Tavon, dance. Dance all night with a hole in your pants.
Again, the Big Bob Tonyan TD comes due to a beautifully designed play call by LaFleur. Adams comes in motion to the right side. It looks as though it’ll be a quick out to the Superstar WR. Rodgers looks that way after the snap. It’s all disguise. Instead, Tonyan is wide open on the back side for an easy TD. Lovely!

Sure, this defense frustrates. There’s still too much zone defense. Preston continues to roll backwards on occasion. They struggled to get off the field on 3rd down. There were annoying penalties. But, if you look at the whole body of work, there were many positives. The Savage sack before the half. The 3 and out to start the 2nd half, which put the Packers in position to grab a 2-score lead. Holding the Lions to a FG after the blown special teams kickoff coverage. Those were major wins.
Would’ve been overwhelmingly sublime if Za’Darius would’ve held on.
Jaire is elite.
I just had to change my music. I went to Natalie Merchant’s “These are the Days” as they truly are the days that we will remember. These are our glory years. These are our “remember when” days. Two years ago, the franchise was completely broken. Devastated. Headed into a scary downward cycle. Two years ago, Aaron Rodgers looked broken. Unhappy. Disgruntled. Today, this team is 10-3, Divisional Champions, and leading the NFC. Thank you, Matt LaFleur. Embrace these days, my friends. We will talk about this season forever.
Game on the line. Need a first down to seal it. Or you can run the ball to eat up the clock. What does LaFleur call? Play action to Tonyan in the flat. Dagger!

It was great to see Dean Lowry making plays as well!
Rashan Gary continues to impress. He’s making giant leaps forward. So, is Darnell Savage. Suddenly, I’m holding out hope that Gutekunst found winners in both 1st round picks.
Quietly, Vernon Scott is playing like a guy who seems to belong.
Another solid play by Ramsey on special teams.
Speaking of special teams, these blunders cannot continue. ESB looked unwilling to make the tackle.
An ESB positive: how dope was that 15 yard dart from Rodgers to ESB on the run. Broken play. Mental connection. Made me smile.
Aaron Jones has a big game coming up. I can feel it.
Up 14-7. The defense gets back to back sacks to get off of the field. The Packers were driving to make it a 2-score game until the Bakhtiari penalty stopped the drive. The defense did its part to create the separation in the 2nd Quarter. The offense didn’t finish. Even a FG would’ve felt big.
MVS! I guess you have to take the bad with the good, maybe? Happy to see him grab that back shoulder throw after looking miserable on the two previous attempts earlier this year.
I love you, Davante Adams.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chandon Sullivan has an interception on the horizon. He’s smart and in position.
Kirksey is in the bottom half of starting ILB’s in the NFL. He might even be significantly lower.
Rodgers to Lazard for a 1st down on 3rd down will never grow old.
The Rodgers TD run was all heart. Simply put - he wanted this game more the anyone else. He was the ultimate competitor.
Said it last week and I’ll say it again. Kevin King is close to making a big play. He’s breaking in the ball. It’s only a matter of time.
Soak up our time with Aaron Rodgers. It won’t always be this way.
To show the difference in coaching: it baffles me that Dominique Dafney can be signed and called up, pressed into action. Yet, he knows how to motion in unison with MVS and Adams. Yet, on the defensive side of the ball, on two occasions, they have 12 men on the field? The devil is in the details. On offense, the Packers couldn’t be more dialed in. On defense and special teams, there’s clearly room for improvement.
In December, it is fun to scoreboard watch. A Packers win on Saturday night would mean a fun weekend of lying on the couch and watching football. Scoreboard watching. If the Packers win on Saturday night, it’d be epic to see Washington beat Seattle along with a Kansas City win against New Orleans. If so, the Packers would be in a golden position with two weeks to go. Especially because Seattle plays the Rams the following week.
I love this team so much. If they win the Super Bowl, I’m forever referring to the Red Zone as the Gold Zone in memory of the 2020 Season.
Jenkins’ false start prior to Crosby’s vital kick shows that the young Jedi has not fully mastered the Force.
This defense will give up yards + points. They’ll struggle to stop the run and the screen pass. But, they’re also going to get sacks, draw holding penalties and force turnovers. I’m banking on it. But, they must stay out of zone defense. Play man to man. Go straight up!
Rodgers is still nimble. Rodgers is still quick. Rodgers still jumps over that first down stick.
3rd and 1. It’s beautiful to watch Lazard blocking and Williams running. Soon, we will see Lazard motion in. A fake to Williams. And a play action pass down the sideline for a big play. LaFleur loves to show something on film and set the opposition up for mind games later on.
It’s so much fun to watch King and Jaire in run support!
I wonder if Matt LaFleur listens to DJ Khaled when he pulls into 1265 Lombardi Ave each day? After all, all he does is win.
This week - it’s the Panthers. At Lambeau. Prime time. Saturday Night football. I’m unbelievably stoked!
The Panthers will be without Christian Mccaffrey. That’s a huge win for the Packers. But, the Packers cannot overlook Carolina. They’re much better than the record suggests. They’re fighting for their young, high spirited coach. Matt Rhule was highly coveted this offseason. He was a huge catch for the Panthers. He is a creative coach who will pound the ball and then take a shot down the field. Kevin King will be tested with the speed of the Panthers WR’s. Moore, Anderson and Samuel can all run. Mike Davis has played well all year. He’s been a very good back. The Packers can expect a heavy dose of Davis all night long. Ian Thomas is a talented TE. Teddy Bridgewater is a likable Leader. He takes care of the football and manages the game in a great fashion. He’s smart. He uses his legs to extend plays and grab yardage. He needs to be monitored in the pocket.
Carolina has been very competitive. They just haven’t been able to win games late. They lose numerous one-score games. They haven’t been able to finish.
The weather doesn’t appear as though it’ll be an issue. Look for Rodgers to attack the vulnerable Carolina CB’s. Davante is going to have another terrific game. Look for Jones to get loose as well.
The Packers grab a 2nd Quarter interception. The offense delivers to give the Packers a 2-score lead. They never relinquish it.

An ESB positive: how dope was that 15 yard dart from Rodgers to ESB on the run. Broken play. Mental connection. Made me smile.
Aaron Jones has a big game coming up. I can feel it.
Up 14-7. The defense gets back to back sacks to get off of the field. The Packers were driving to make it a 2-score game until the Bakhtiari penalty stopped the drive. The defense did its part to create the separation in the 2nd Quarter. The offense didn’t finish. Even a FG would’ve felt big.
MVS! I guess you have to take the bad with the good, maybe? Happy to see him grab that back shoulder throw after looking miserable on the two previous attempts earlier this year.
I love you, Davante Adams.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Chandon Sullivan has an interception on the horizon. He’s smart and in position.
Kirksey is in the bottom half of starting ILB’s in the NFL. He might even be significantly lower.
Rodgers to Lazard for a 1st down on 3rd down will never grow old.
The Rodgers TD run was all heart. Simply put - he wanted this game more the anyone else. He was the ultimate competitor.
Said it last week and I’ll say it again. Kevin King is close to making a big play. He’s breaking in the ball. It’s only a matter of time.
Soak up our time with Aaron Rodgers. It won’t always be this way.
To show the difference in coaching: it baffles me that Dominique Dafney can be signed and called up, pressed into action. Yet, he knows how to motion in unison with MVS and Adams. Yet, on the defensive side of the ball, on two occasions, they have 12 men on the field? The devil is in the details. On offense, the Packers couldn’t be more dialed in. On defense and special teams, there’s clearly room for improvement.
In December, it is fun to scoreboard watch. A Packers win on Saturday night would mean a fun weekend of lying on the couch and watching football. Scoreboard watching. If the Packers win on Saturday night, it’d be epic to see Washington beat Seattle along with a Kansas City win against New Orleans. If so, the Packers would be in a golden position with two weeks to go. Especially because Seattle plays the Rams the following week.
I love this team so much. If they win the Super Bowl, I’m forever referring to the Red Zone as the Gold Zone in memory of the 2020 Season.
Jenkins’ false start prior to Crosby’s vital kick shows that the young Jedi has not fully mastered the Force.
This defense will give up yards + points. They’ll struggle to stop the run and the screen pass. But, they’re also going to get sacks, draw holding penalties and force turnovers. I’m banking on it. But, they must stay out of zone defense. Play man to man. Go straight up!
Rodgers is still nimble. Rodgers is still quick. Rodgers still jumps over that first down stick.
3rd and 1. It’s beautiful to watch Lazard blocking and Williams running. Soon, we will see Lazard motion in. A fake to Williams. And a play action pass down the sideline for a big play. LaFleur loves to show something on film and set the opposition up for mind games later on.
It’s so much fun to watch King and Jaire in run support!
I wonder if Matt LaFleur listens to DJ Khaled when he pulls into 1265 Lombardi Ave each day? After all, all he does is win.
This week - it’s the Panthers. At Lambeau. Prime time. Saturday Night football. I’m unbelievably stoked!
The Panthers will be without Christian Mccaffrey. That’s a huge win for the Packers. But, the Packers cannot overlook Carolina. They’re much better than the record suggests. They’re fighting for their young, high spirited coach. Matt Rhule was highly coveted this offseason. He was a huge catch for the Panthers. He is a creative coach who will pound the ball and then take a shot down the field. Kevin King will be tested with the speed of the Panthers WR’s. Moore, Anderson and Samuel can all run. Mike Davis has played well all year. He’s been a very good back. The Packers can expect a heavy dose of Davis all night long. Ian Thomas is a talented TE. Teddy Bridgewater is a likable Leader. He takes care of the football and manages the game in a great fashion. He’s smart. He uses his legs to extend plays and grab yardage. He needs to be monitored in the pocket.
Carolina has been very competitive. They just haven’t been able to win games late. They lose numerous one-score games. They haven’t been able to finish.
The weather doesn’t appear as though it’ll be an issue. Look for Rodgers to attack the vulnerable Carolina CB’s. Davante is going to have another terrific game. Look for Jones to get loose as well.
The Packers grab a 2nd Quarter interception. The offense delivers to give the Packers a 2-score lead. They never relinquish it.

My Take -> Week 14
Greetings, G-Force.
9-3. In 2020, the Packers have reminded me to be the lightning and not the thunder. Strike first. Live with electricity. Just hold on.
As I write, I enjoy a Stone Enjoy By IPA. I think to myself: give me beer, give me music and give me Packers football...and you know what? I don’t need much more outside entertainment. I listen to Bob Marley’s show from September 23, 1980 at the Stanley Theater in Pittsburgh. His last show. What an icon. An absolute Legend. Buzz in. Please. I beg you.
My quick vibes from the last week:
Again, Matt LaFleur amazed us all. After a couple of offensive breakdowns on the first series, the offense looked Super. If you’re curious about what kind of locker room Matt LaFleur has built, just watch the Aaron Jones TD run. The entire Packers offense was sprinting down the field to help guide him into the end zone. Matt LaFleur understands culture. I like what he’s built.
Aaron Rodgers continues to play at an MVP level. He’s in tune with everything going on. In the zone. Fully dialed in. He’s become the best play action QB in the NFL. He draws the defense in with his disguise.
Props to the defense. Down 3-0 late in the first, Philly looked to be in control of the game. They were driving to make it a 2-score game. But, this defense played with the simplicity that we’ve been waiting for all year. Gary got home with a sack and Keke did one play later. Suddenly, the Eagles were out of FG range. Great to see Pettine adjusting his game plan. He listened to his players. In man to man battles, I believe this Packers defense has the talent to be a high flying, quality defense.
After that defensive stop, all momentum swung towards the Packers. The Packers went 88 yards on 14 plays while draining more than 7:40 off of the clock. Oh, the glory.
Kamal Martin gets me excited. There’s so much to like. He explodes through the hole. He has great football instincts.
Davante Adams is doing things that haven’t been done by a WR in my lifetime. He’s hungry. He’s determined. He’s winning jump balls. He’s creating his own separation when he isn’t being schemed open. The only player who has done anything close to what Adams is doing since I’ve been alive was Sterling Sharpe. Defenses know that the ball is going to Adams and they still can’t stop it.
I love Aaron Jones. What a gamer. Please lock him up.
Aaron Rodgers to Davante Adams for #400 is absolutely beautiful.
Rick Wagner has been a great Gutekunst signing.
We should take note of Matt LaFleur’s brilliance when we start seeing Marcedes Lewis grabbing 36 yard passes and there’s no one anywhere near him.
Jaire is becoming an Island of its own.
Another especially strong game from Savage!
When Kevin King is on the field, this defense looks different in their pads.
Keep Preston Smith running forward and not running backwards and the results will continue to be favorable.
I will miss Raven Greene. What a solid football player. A great Gutekunst find. Gutekunst has shown an eye for finding good defensive football players. Bummer that Greene is out. I’m hoping that we see a little bit of Henry Black in his place. I’ve liked what we’ve seen from him in limited action.
Jenkins is a dynamite football player.
Big Bob Tonyan! How much is he going to get paid this year? What a spectacular year he’s having. A tough dude.
Shout out to Malik Taylor who ran with toughness after the catch.
Za’Darius keeps making plays every week.
If Keke and Gary can keep bringing the heat, this team has a legitimate chance to be Super.
Rodgers to Lazard out of a set that screams run feels like the sun riding over the Ridge to start your day.
I think the two TD’s to Big Bob Tonyan over the last two weeks are my favorite two TD’s of the year. The play against the Bears was pure play design mastery by LaFleur. The TD against the Eagles was the epitome of just how amazing Rodgers has been in 2020. He patiently canvassed the field, casually stepped out of a sack like a young Yogi and flipped his wrist for a 25 yard TD.
1st and 10 out of your own end zone? Why not call the deep ball. So many hearts.
This team needs a Lamont Hollinquest or a Bernardo Harris. Someone who can be a special teams dynamo. A man who is determined to make a special teams tackle. At all costs.
In 1995 and 1996, the Pacjers had a great defense. It felt like the biggest weakness was when teams would attack Sean Jones in the run game. Fritz Shurmur had to plant Wayne Simmons or Brian Williams right behind him to give run support protection. Preston Smith offers the same concerns in the run game. Pettine needs to design support for him. Could it be Martin? Or Amos?
Slay is a great CB. Davante treated him like a rag doll. The play design on the TD is further proof of LaFleur’s intelligence. Showing heavy to the strong side of the field. Two WR’s stacked to the weak side. Lazard motions across to the strong side of the field. Drawing CB and LB attention. The play is called to the weak side of the field to Davante. One on one. #400 in the books. I can watch that design on repeat.
Catch the ball, MVS. LaFleur and Rodgers wanted the dagger to start the 3rd. MVS couldn’t hold on.
This team has personality. This team has a spark. They believe in themselves. They build early leads. And hold on as if everything is right.
Kevin King has a game changing interception coming in the very near future.
I’m excited to see an animated Tavon Austin with the ball in his hands.
This week - it's the Lions. In Detroit. A place that the Packers have not played great football in recent years. But, this team feels different and I expect them to come out with great intensity from the start.
The Lions are banged up. They'll be without their top WR, their starting RT and their top two CB's. Still, if they stay committed to the run, they should be able to move the ball and keep it competitive.
If Darrell Bevell loses patience as a play caller, the Packers should be able to get heightened pressure and get in Stafford's face. Bevell's play calling will be a determining factor in the outocme. I'm hoping that he tries to toss it around the field. If so, I expect a blowout. But, I have to imagine that Bevell will stay patient and annoy the Packers defense. Like the Eagles early on last week, look for the Lions to try and sustain long, clock-eating drives.
Regardless of Bevell's play calling, Detroit shouldn't win this game. They'll struggle to cover Adams. And Tonyan. And Lazard. And MVS. One would assume that Rodgers is in line for a big game and that ultimately, if the Packers defense shows up, the Packers should win by two scores. At least.
I expect the Packers to force two turnovers. Look for King to grab a pick.
I expect the Packers defense to get at least three sacks.
I expect Rodgers to toss 3 more TD's.
